Does God love me?
Does GOD love me?
This question often comes to my mind. Maybe God came into the world for others, but not for me. Who am I that he should be considerate of me? Perhaps God loves them, but I’m not entirely sure he loves me. I believe these are lies that Satan tells us. What verses can we base this on?
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. – Hebrews 4:16
How can we come to God? God is holy, and no one can approach Him unless they are holy. Can we be holy on our own? Not a chance. BUT we can approach God through the blood of Jesus. Only if I believe that He died for me can I partake in His grace.
And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. – Ephesians 5:2
Christ gave Himself for us—or, more personally, for me. Would someone give their life for another without love? That is the magnitude of His love for ME. So, doubting whether God really loves me is doubting Jesus Himself. The repercussions of this can be severe.
He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. – John 3:18
This verse made me think: If we doubt whether God really loves us, are we not doubting the gospel, whose entire message is about God’s love for us? If we doubt the gospel, are we not already condemned? Not according to me, but according to this verse.
Here we are, thinking that God doesn’t love us and falling into a bottomless pit of self-pity, while what we’re really doing is condemning ourselves. How cunningly Satan makes us condemn ourselves without us even realizing it.
So, let us approach God with confidence—confidence gained through the blood of Jesus. God loves YOU and ME. PERIOD. There is no doubt about that. The next time we have this doubt, let us be very careful before taking a leap—a leap of confidence or a leap into self-pity.
