What seed am I?

 The Sower

Don't we all love the parables? How God helps us understand complicated things by comparing them to simple ones! One of the most well-known parables is the Sower. I remember learning it in Sunday school. I knew all the scenarios Jesus described and thought I had understood it completely. But now, decades later, I realize that I belong to the first category.

I was reading the parable of the Sower the other day, and suddenly, everything made new sense to me. Only now do I fully grasp its meaning. It’s like:

"He who has ears to hear, let him hear!" – Matthew 13:9

The First Category: The One Who Hears but Does Not Understand

We've all heard the saying, "Read your Bible every day." But what’s more important than just reading is understanding. What is this verse telling me? What changes should I make in my life based on it? That is what truly matters.

The Second Category: The One Who Hears and Receives, but Falls Away in Trials

This person receives the Word with joy, but when trouble comes, they fall away. God tests us, and how we hold up in those tests is directly proportional to how much we have understood His Word and how deeply we love Him. Otherwise, we are like the seed that has no root.

The Third Category: The One Who Is Consumed by the World’s Cares and Riches

Perhaps this is the category that justifies wrongdoing by saying, "That’s how the world works," or believes that compromise is necessary to survive.

The Fourth Category: The One Who Hears, Understands, and Bears Fruit

This is the ideal one. The person who not only hears but understands. David says:

"Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day." – Psalm 119:97
"And in His law he meditates day and night." – Psalm 1:2

When we read David’s Psalms, they touch us in a unique way. So what sets David apart from others in his time? The answer lies here: others simply followed the law, but David meditated on it and understood why God gave it to us.

MEDITATE AND UNDERSTAND
