Am I special?

 Am I special?

"I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made." – Psalm 139:14

This verse is often quoted to show how God made us. But most of the time, I overlook the magnitude of this truth. Yes, I am wonderfully made—but so is everyone. God came not only for me, but for everyone. So, am I really special?

But this thought has a flaw. If we have everything yet don’t feel special simply because someone else also has it, then doesn’t that reveal something about our intentions? Are we comparing ourselves with others in order to feel special?

Jesus explains it beautifully in the Parable of the Workers in the Field – Matthew 20:1–16. God says, Be happy with what you have. Why does it matter to you what I give to others?

Is our standard for feeling special based on comparison, or do we truly value what we’ve been given?

Coming back to the verse: I am fearfully and wonderfully made—by God. That alone makes me special. God loves me. He came into this world for me. I am indeed special.

You are special too. But that shouldn’t concern me—rather, I should be happy for you.

We are special.
