Do we really?
Good Friday
The verse that sums up the heart of Good Friday and Easter is this:
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." - John 3:16
This verse shows God's immense love for us. A parent would never want to harm their child. So if such a sacrifice was made, there must have been a reason far greater than even a parent's love for their child. I can’t think of any reason. Let alone the reason being me.
Why did God love me so much that He gave His one and only Son? I didn’t do anything for Him. Then why? Why would He love me that much? This is the thought I want to reflect on today.
The first part of the verse reveals God’s love. The second part tells us what God expects us to do: BELIEVE
If someone asks, “Do you believe in God?” we might say yes without thinking. Maybe it’s a standard answer. But do we really believe? How do we respond in times of trouble? How about in times of abundance? Jesus once said:
“But He said to them, ‘Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?’” - Matthew 8:26
When we look at the world around us, it’s easy to be afraid. But our hope should rest in this:
God is in control, no matter what.
But what if we don’t believe?
“Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.”- Matthew 13:58
What may stand between us and the power of God could simply be our unbelief. God can control everything—but He chooses not to control us. Instead, He invites us to believe in Him. The question is:
